Our demo account held nothing at submission, and the automated review did not care.
It still matters, for two reasons that have nothing to do with the review:
- The listing is a funnel to your website. Anyone who reads the directory entry and follows the link lands on a site whose public index says "nothing published yet." That is the shop window, and it is open regardless of what the reviewer did.
- Verified requires a human to test the tools. At that tier the credentials you handed over get used. Instructions describing content that does not exist fail there.
The general shape: an empty result is not a pass. A reviewer — or a user — who calls a search tool and gets nothing back concludes the tool is broken, not that the account is bare. That is true of every demo environment, and it is the failure mode that looks like success in every automated check you own.
