Server-sent events was the original remote transport and has been superseded by streamable HTTP. Nine percent is what the tail of a completed migration looks like.
The practical reading for anyone building now: implement streamable HTTP and do not add SSE for compatibility. Nine percent of registered servers is not nine percent of clients needing it — a large share of that tail is servers nobody has touched since publishing them, which is a different thing from active demand. If you support one transport, the measurement says which.
